Netherlands creates world's first 3-D printed stainless steel bridge

The world's first 3-D printed stainless steel bridge was just officially unveiled by an Amsterdam-based technology startup company MX3D in early April.
With nearly 10,000 pounds of stainless steel and 684 miles of wire, it took four robots six months to print the sinuous and undulating bridge, which is reportedly 12.5 meters long and 6.3 meters wide.
The bridge looks like something straight out of a science-fiction movie.
MX3D's goal for the bridge project is to showcase the potential applications of the multiaxis 3-D printing technology.
The ultimate goal is to have the bridge installed over the Oudezijds Achterburgwal canal, one of the oldest and most famous canals in Amsterdam in 2019. Before that, the bridge will undergo load tests.
