Premier Li Keqiang met with El Salvador President Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez during his state visit to China in the Great Hall of the People on Dec 3.
Premier Li said since China and El Salvador established diplomatic relations last year, the relationship between the two countries has been continuously moving forward, which is in the interest of the two peoples and conducive to achieving mutual benefit and win-win results.
President Xi Jinping has held talks with Bukele for the future of bilateral relations.
China has always held that all countries, big and small, are equal, and has stuck to mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual nonaggression and noninterference in each other's internal affairs, the Premier noted.
He also said China supports El Salvador’s efforts to safeguard its national security and stability and improve its people's livelihood, and is willing to work with El Salvador to maintain the political foundation of bilateral relations, consolidate political mutual trust and expand practical cooperation, creating a bright future for the development of bilateral relations.
As developing countries, Premier Li said, China and El Salvador have huge cooperation potential, and China is willing to connect development strategies with El Salvador with more cooperation in trade and investment, infrastructure construction, forestry, agriculture and fishery.
He expressed the hope El Salvador could provide support to Chinese enterprises in the nation and promote exchanges in education, tourism and culture, laying a solid public foundation for bilateral relations in the long run.
Bukele said El Salvador and China are neighbors across the Pacific Ocean and have a profound friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China and El Salvador have seen rapid development of bilateral relations and fruitful cooperation in all fields.
Enhanced China-El Salvador cooperation will bring more opportunities to his nation, Bukele said.
He said that El Salvador upholds the one-China policy and is willing to strengthen communication with China and conduct more cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture and culture, making the nation a portal to Chinese enterprises in the Americas.
El Salvador will provide convenience and legal guarantee to Chinese enterprises, he added.
He Lifeng, head of the National Development and Reform Commission, also attended the meeting.
