Beijing - FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co Ltd sold 186,777 vehicles in May, soaring 22 percent year on year or up 12.7 percent month on month, the company said Friday.

Sales under the brands Volkswagen, Audi and Jetta last month reached 106,368 units, 65,008 units and 15,401 units, increasing by 10.4 percent, 16.3 percent and 14 percent month on month, respectively.

FAW-Volkswagen is a passenger car making joint venture between China FAW Group Co Ltd and Volkswagen AG. As one of the best-selling passenger vehicle manufacturers in the world's largest auto market, it has set a sales target of 2.33 million units for 2020.

FAW-Volkswagen, established in 1991, has five production bases across China. Its sales have exceeded 20 million units since its establishment.
