Dragon TV has started screening an eight-episode documentary on the post-World War II trials of Japan's B- and C-class war criminals to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).
Produced by the Shanghai Media Group, the documentary Asia-Pacific War Crimes Trials is said to be the world's first major documentary of its kind and claims to reveal many little-known historical events and academic findings to the public.
Among the highlights of the show are the stories about Chinese rescuing and protecting soldiers from allied countries.
The film crew traveled nearly 90,000 kilometers across 13 countries and regions in four continents, uncovering historical images, audio files and materials in 29 world-class archives.
Nearly 50 international scholars, as well as more than 40 witnesses of the historical events and their descendants, were interviewed.
