Eleven culture and tourism tech innovation centers in Beijing and seven provinces, including Liaoning, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong and Hunan, are now in operation, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism reported on Dec 30.

The centers were set up by well-known domestic enterprises in collaboration with institutes of higher learning and research.

Around 100 experts have been appointed to the committee responsible for the construction of the centers, with total investment exceeding 100 million yuan ($13.91 million), according to Liu Dongyan, an official in the ministry's science and education division.
