On April 24, the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly held an online roundtable themed "remembering history and opening up the future" to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War.

CPIFA Vice President Yang Tao, and experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Foreign Affairs University, and the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies attended the event on the Chinese side. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the historical view of World War II, the international order and China-Russia relations, and reached extensive consensus. Both sides agreed:

1. The Chinese and Russian people, as main forces against fascism and militarism, fought heroically on the two major battlefields in Asia and Europe, and made huge national sacrifices. Their contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War are indelible. This great history, written with life and blood, should not be forgotten, still less should it be denied, distorted or tampered with.

2. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (UN). As the Permanent Members of the UN Security Council, China and Russia bear special responsibilities for world peace and security. China and Russia should continue to jointly safeguard the victorious outcomes of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War and the World Anti-Fascist War. They should jointly promote the correct historical view of World War II and work together to make new and greater contributions to the peace and development of humanity.

3. The current international order was established on the basis of the outcomes of World War II. China and Russia were both builders of this order. As the world undergoes great changes unseen in a century, China and Russia must unequivocally stand on the side of historical progress and on the side of justice, and champion an equal and orderly multipolar world. The two countries must practice true multilateralism, uphold the UN-centered international system, the international order underpinned by international law and the norms governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and promote a more just and equitable international order.

4. Under the strategic guidance of the Presidents of the two countries, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era is at its historical best. The two countries have followed a way of non-alliance, non-confrontation, and not targeting any third party in growing their relations. China-Russia relations pose no threat to other countries and should stay free from the disturbance of any third party. China and Russia should make their joint voice better heard, make joint contributions, and remain a source of stability in this turbulent world.
