On Aug 15, the Cultural Office of the Egyptian embassy in China hosted a cultural exchange event that brought together over 50 Chinese artists.

Wael Fathy, head of the cultural office, delivered a speech highlighting the long-term efforts and achievements in Sino-Egyptian cultural exchanges, while warmly welcoming the Chinese artists.

Fathy emphasized that Egypt and China, as two of the world's ancient civilizations, share a long history and splendid culture. He noted that this exchange event was a rare opportunity for mutual learning and deeper understanding. He expressed hope that both sides would gain friendship and inspiration through more such artistic exchanges.

During the event, the artists immersed themselves in Egypt's unique cultural charm, gaining deeper understanding into pyramid culture and a fresh perspective on the sources of artistic inspiration in this mysterious land.

An interactive session brought the event to a climax. Chinese artists freely wielded their brushes on traditional Egyptian papyrus. Orchids, symbolizing purity, and bamboo, representing tenacity, gradually took shape on the papyrus. Calligraphy enthusiasts from Shenzhen of Guangdong province improvised the writing of "Long live Sino-Egyptian friendship". The vigorous and forceful strokes expressing sincere wishes for the continuous development of Sino-Egyptian friendly relations earned warm applause.

The Chinese artists also visited a small museum at the cultural office, which houses numerous replicas of precious relics and art exhibits from Egypt, including ancient murals and exquisite sculptures. Many took out their brushes to sketch on the spot.

To conclude the event, the Egyptian cultural office presented each participating artist with a papyrus painting as a memento of the cultural exchange.
