Seres Power, the drivetrain arm of Chinese automaker Seres Group, is showcasing its latest products at the IAA Mobility in Munich, Germany, as it seeks to expand its technology footprint beyond China.

At an event on Tuesday, the company unveiled its new-generation range-extender system, high-efficiency engine and distributed electric drive, pitching the systems to global automakers, suppliers and industry experts.

The company said its C2E range-extender architecture, combined with its proprietary RoboREX control technology, reduces fuel consumption by 15 percent and noise perception by 90 percent, while delivering thermal efficiency of 44.8 percent — among the highest for mass-produced systems.

Its distributed drive technology, available in two- to four-motor configurations, enhances both safety and driving performance and can be scaled from compact cars to full-size luxury vehicles.

Range-extender systems are gaining traction as a solution to charging and range anxiety, especially in premium NEVs.

Seres began investing in the technology in 2016 and has since filed more than 3,900 patents.

Its systems underpin Aito, the Seres-backed brand co-developed with Huawei, which has delivered more than 750,000 vehicles in China, making the range-extender a core differentiator.

Beyond its in-house brands, Seres Power is pushing to become a global supplier. It has signed agreements with 25 industry partners and reported revenue of 9.2 billion yuan ($1.29 billion) in 2024, up 132 percent from the previous year.

Executives from AVL, Bosch, Schaeffler and other European suppliers joined technical discussions alongside Seres executives at the Munich event.

Seres said it aims to use such collaborations to refine its systems for international markets to offer safer, smarter and more convenient mobility solutions.
