China's global initiatives are positive and properly presented on time amid a changing global landscape that demands more international dialogues to meet the shared challenges, said Grzegorz W Kolodko, former deputy prime minister and finance minister of Poland.

In an exclusive interview on Tuesday with China Daily during the 2nd World Conference on China Studies, Kolodko, also director of TIGER at Kozminiski University, pointed out that China has been declaring a commitment to inclusive globalization and peaceful development, and yet the West still has certain suspicions about the "real intentions" of China.

However, Chinese global initiatives, including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative, are addressing the global challenges and are significant for the Global South nations.

"The more dialogues, the better for the (world's) development. They must be brought to the fore of the United Nations system, and we have to make the next step forward," said Kolodko.

Kolodko noted that the tensions will remain in international relations. Globalization, liberalization and integration have been making the separately performing national economies into one interconnected global economy.

"It is an irreversible process. Therefore, the question is how to govern globally at a time where we do not have a global government … We have to adjust the system of international organizations and global dialogues to meet the challenges," he said, particularly highlighting that the Global Governance Initiative is propitiously timed, as most of the world is still hoping for the continuation of an inclusive globalization.

Kolodko further explained that the world is facing many common challenges, such as climate change, global warming, security, and technology, meeting which will require global efforts in governance. The world of the future is a multipolar world, and global governance will not be proper if it puts someone first and leaves others behind.

"It is a generation-lasting process that how to govern the global affairs. I hope that China will contribute to a pragmatic solution to solve these challenges," he added, appealing for more dialogues across various sectors.

He also stressed the contribution of China's economy to global economic growth. As one of the engines driving global growth, Kolodko said the world is supposed to be in favor of the nation's continuing growth, which he expects to sustain in the future.

"Each fraction of a percentage point of economic growth in China has global implications. It means that more goods and services are being delivered to other parts of the world, showing the demand outside of China is growing. That is the positive feedback for all parties involved," he added.

Looking to the future cooperation between China and the European Union, Kolodko especially highlighted sectors such as renewable energy, clean energy, and artificial intelligence.
