BMW Group, a German automaker, has granted Luyuan Group, a Chinese electric two-wheeler manufacturer, the rights to use its micromobility concepts to promote greener and more sustainable urban transportation.

The licensed concepts include Dynamic Cargo and Clever Commute, two micromobility solutions developed by BMW.

Specifically, Dynamic Cargo is an innovative electric three-wheeled cargo bike that combines the agility and riding experience of a conventional bicycle with enhanced cargo-carrying capability, offering safe and versatile transport options. It can be equipped with a modular weather protection system, improving safety and practicality, particularly in adverse weather conditions, and making it suitable for year-round use.

Clever Commute, meanwhile, is designed as a practical solution for last-mile travel. The foldable e-scooter can be easily carried on public transportation or stored in a car without compromising riding stability.

Guided by its philosophy of advancing light mobility through technology, Luyuan Group plans to leverage the licensed technologies to develop light-mobility vehicles for diverse urban travel scenarios and expand into global markets under its own brands.

Jochen Karg, head of Vehicle Concepts at BMW Group, said the company was pleased to grant Luyuan Group the rights to use the Dynamic Cargo and Clever Commute technologies as part of its broader efforts to shape the future of urban mobility.

"BMW Group has long collaborated with cities, and we aim to help build more city-friendly transport systems by enhancing connectivity across urban mobility, promoting micromobility solutions for last-mile travel, and encouraging a shift toward more sustainable travel behavior," he added.

Hu Jihong, CEO of Luyuan Group, said the cooperation with BMW Group marked an important step in the company's overall strategy to enter global markets. The company aims to serve different markets worldwide by combining China's smart manufacturing capabilities with technologies adapted to local needs.
