1. Xixia Imperial Tombs added to the World Heritage List
The Xixia Imperial Tombs were inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List on July 11 during the 47th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris — becoming China's 60th World Heritage site.
Established by the Tangut people in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, the tomb complex dates back to the Xixia Dynasty (1038–1227). Covering nearly 40 square kilometers in the Gobi Desert, the site includes nine imperial mausoleums, 271 subordinate tombs, architectural remains, and flood-control facilities — forming a striking cultural landscape against the Helan Mountains.
