GAC Group, a major automobile manufacturer based in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, has launched its new-generation flagship intelligent sedan Hyptec A800, helping redefine luxury standards in the intelligent vehicle sector.

As a key strategic model for the company, the Hyptec A800 is equipped with a three-motor, four-wheel-drive intelligent digital chassis and features the industry-leading intelligent driving platform ADS 4.1 and HarmonySpace 5, both developed by tech giant Huawei.

"Launching the new vehicle marks a comprehensive entry into the new luxury 2.0 era in the intelligent vehicle sector," said Zhang Xiong, president of GAC's Hyptec and Aion business unit.

The luxury 2.0 intelligent vehicle era is centered on users' experience and technological breakthroughs, shifting from passive satisfaction to proactive care, and elevating vehicles from mere means of transport to products capable of emotional resonance, according to Zhang.

Starting from March 31, the number of Hyptec service outlets is expected to exceed 600, achieving full coverage in all third-tier cities and above across the country, according to Zhang.

Since the launch of its first pure electric model, the SSR, in 2021, the Hyptec brand has developed a product lineup that includes sedans, SUVs and sports cars. Its factory has also been selected as a global lighthouse factory, making it the only Chinese brand in the new energy vehicle sector to receive the certification.

The launch of the Hyptec A800 is part of GAC Group's efforts to introduce more domestically-developed new energy vehicles in the coming years.

Feng Xingya, chairman and president of GAC, said in late February that the company would make every effort to strengthen the market share of its domestically-developed brands in 2026.

In the first two months of this year, GAC's self-developed brands achieved a total sales volume exceeding 84,800 vehicles, marking a year-on-year growth of 43.25 percent, according to the company.

In another development, Qijing, another brand jointly developed by GAC and Huawei, is set to be launched for market sales in June.
