The China Cultural Center in Amman, in collaboration with local partners including the Kindly Initiative and I Learn Volunteer Group, hosted "Light of Kindness — Chinese Cultural Night", a cultural exchange event for children on Tuesday.

More than 100 participants, including refugee children and volunteers, attended the event, experiencing the richness of Chinese culture in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Speaking at the event, Zhao Xiaoqiang, cultural counselor of the Chinese embassy in Jordan and director of the China Cultural Center in Amman, emphasized that cultural exchange serves as an important bridge for enhancing friendship and promoting mutual understanding between peoples. He said the Center remains committed to providing platforms — especially for young people in Jordan — to better understand China and appreciate Chinese culture.

The evening featured a vibrant and thoughtfully curated program. A children's drama performance, Steps of Truth, adapted from a traditional Chinese story and performed by Jordanian artists, was well received by the audience.

This was followed by an interactive Chinese culture quiz led by staff member Abeer, who introduced Chinese festivals and customs through engaging storytelling and active participation by the children.

A "Hands-on Heritage" segment highlighted the art of Chinese paper-cutting. Volunteers Zhao Yixuan and Hai Yiguang presented the history and cultural significance of this traditional craft and guided the children through a hands-on paper-cutting and coloring activity. The session allowed participants to explore their creativity while gaining a deeper appreciation of Chinese artistic traditions.

The event also included a practical health component. In collaboration with the Kindly Initiative, a dental health awareness session was conducted, featuring educational guidance and on-site demonstrations to promote good oral hygiene habits among the children.

At sunset, participants gathered to share a traditional Ramadan iftar, beginning with dates and drinks and followed by a communal meal that further strengthened a spirit of care and community.

By combining cultural experience with humanitarian care, the event not only enriched the cultural lives of local youth but also brought the people of China and Jordan closer. It stands as a vivid example of the positive role of people-to-people exchanges in fostering mutual understanding and friendship.
