MOC: Cross-border deals must follow Chinese laws

China's Ministry of Commerce made remarks on Thursday regarding Meta's acquisition of artificial intelligence platform Manus, noting that enterprises engaging in cross-border operations and technological cooperation must comply with Chinese laws and regulations and fulfill statutory procedures.
"The Chinese government supports enterprises in conducting cross-border operations and technological cooperation based on business needs," He Yadong, a spokesman for the ministry, said at a regular news conference in Beijing, adding that such activities must be carried out in accordance with the law and required procedures must be followed.
