Wuhan emerges as new hub for electronic information industry
The 19th China Electronics and Information Conference took place at the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) from April 16 to 19, attracting over 7,000 participants, including academics, experts and scholars, as well as industry representatives from companies like Tencent, Xiaomi, and iQiyi.

The event featured nearly 100 specialized forums covering advanced topics such as optical communication, memory technology, artificial intelligence, integrated sky-earth systems, quantum information, and 6G technology.
Xu Xiaolan, president of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, emphasized the strategic, foundational, and pioneering role of the electronic information industry in the national economy. Wuhan, recognized as a rising hub for this industry in China, boasts a comprehensive industrial chain and robust innovative ecosystem.

In the field of optical communication, Wuhan hosts the most complete industrial chain in the country. It is also home to leading domestic panel manufacturers like BOE, TCL CSOT, and Tianma in the new display sector.
Furthermore, Wuhan's smart terminal industry is thriving, with key players such as Lenovo's Wuhan base and Xiaomi's smart appliance factory, alongside a diverse array of AI-focused products.
Feng Dan, vice-president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, noted that hosting the conference in Wuhan for the first time signifies strong recognition of the city's industrial strengths and academic standing in the electronic information field. This event is expected to further propel Wuhan toward becoming a global innovation hub in the electronic information industry.
