Former senior discipline regulator Wang Huimin has been indicted on bribery charges, China's top procuratorate announced on Thursday. The Supreme People's Procuratorate stated that Wang, the former head of the discipline inspection and supervision team dispatched to the China Securities Regulatory Commission by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, was arrested on suspicion of bribery following an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision.

The case was transferred to prosecutors for review and prosecution, with the SPP designating the Chengdu People's Procuratorate in Sichuan province to handle it. The Chengdu People's Procuratorate has recently filed the case with the Chengdu Intermediate People's Court. Prosecutors said Wang was informed of his procedural rights during the review and prosecution stage, was questioned, and his defense counsel's opinions were heard.

According to the indictment, Wang allegedly used his positions, including president and Party chief of China Construction Bank's Xinjiang branch, assistant to the chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, director and Party chief of the region's financial work office, Party chief of the region's rural credit cooperatives union, head of the discipline inspection commission of the CSRC, and head of the discipline inspection group dispatched to the commission by the CCDI, to seek benefits for others.

He is also accused of using his authority and influence derived from his positions and of using the actions of other state functionaries to secure improper benefits for others. In return, he accepted large sums of money and valuables.

Prosecutors stated that the amount involved was especially large and that Wang should be held criminally liable for bribery.

Wang, 67, a native of Gansu province, began his career in 1975 and joined the Party in 1982. He worked in Xinjiang for decades. He worked at China Construction Bank's Xinjiang branch from 1984 and was promoted to president of the branch in 1998, holding the position until February 2002. After that, he served as assistant to the chairman of Xinjiang until January 2012.

From 2012 to January 2014, he served as vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the region. Later, he transferred to work in the CSRC, serving as the head of its discipline inspection commission and later the head of the inspection and supervision group of the CCDI and the NCS stationed at the CSRC until 2019, when he retired. He was placed under investigation in March 2025 and expelled from the Party in November.
