The Chinese Football Association (CFA), in partnership with Ping An Insurance, on Wednesday launched the "Team China Youth Aspiration Program" in Beijing, a new initiative aimed at strengthening the country's soccer talent pipeline.

The launch ceremony, held at Beijing's National Olympic Sports Center, outlined an ambitious plan to support promising young Chinese players through overseas training and competition opportunities in leading soccer nations and regions. The initiative aims to enhance both individual player development and the overall competitiveness of China's national teams.

At the event, a CFA national team management official provided a comprehensive briefing on the program. Built on the principle of "prioritizing individuals while supporting teams," the initiative primarily targets eligible Chinese players, offering financial assistance for professional training abroad, participation in high-level competitions and stable living conditions.

In addition, select youth teams at various levels will receive support to compete internationally in leading soccer nations and regions.

The official also detailed the first phase of the program, including eligibility criteria, selection mechanisms, and funding structures, emphasizing that implementation will proceed in an orderly and sustainable manner.

CFA President Song Kai said the initiative addresses a core challenge in player development.

"The cultivation of high-level players depends on exposure to advanced tactical concepts and rigorous competition environments," he said.

"This program is designed to ensure that talented young players have the confidence and opportunity to go abroad, stay abroad, and, most importantly, compete."

Song added that the CFA is actively advancing a broader overseas training framework for youth players, aimed at systematically nurturing a new generation of internationally competitive talent. As a key component of this system, the Youth Aspiration Program will focus on providing targeted support for elite prospects.

He also called for broader participation from the private sector and society at large to contribute to the long-term development of Chinese youth soccer.

The program marks a further step in the CFA's push to internationalize player development and deepen youth soccer reform. The association said it will continue to work with Ping An and other partners to expand the program and strengthen long-term support for emerging talent.
