Rural land rights affirmed at conference

"Safeguarding farmers' fundamental right to transfer their land use rights will promote the development of democracy in China," said Du Runsheng, a senior rural policy expert and also a pioneer in China's rural reform at a conference held in Beijing today to mark the 30th anniversary of China's reform and opening up.

"It’s still not enough to just maintain long-term stable policies on rural reform and development.
