BYD in talks to supply powertrain systems

China's BYD Co Ltd is in talks to supply powertrain systems to US and European automakers, a senior company executive said on Monday.

"We are in talks with American and European automakers to supply powertrain systems, including batteries. The idea is that we will pick one American and two European automakers," Henry Li, general manager of BYD Autos exports division, told reporters in an interview.

BYD Auto, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-listed rechargeable battery maker, has used its expertise in batteries to develop rechargeable vehicles.
