China's farm produce prices rise 0.4% last week

Prices of agricultural products in 36 Chinese cities rose 0.4 percent from July 20 to 26 from a week earlier, according to figures released by the Ministry of Commerce Wednesday.

A survey of farm produce prices in 36 large and medium-sized cities nationwide showed that 27 out of 57 types of agricultural products saw week-on-week price increases, according to a report posted on the ministry's website.

Wholesale prices of pork climbed 1.7 percent week-on-week, while those of beef and mutton remained almost unchanged.

Vegetable prices grew 1.1 percent due to a decrease in supplies triggered by rainstorms and higher costs of storage and transportation as a result of the hot weather, according to the report.

Retail price of flour edged up 0.5 percent and that of rice was up 0.2 percent. Prices of edible oil fell, with peanut oil price down 0.3 percent,and those of rapeseed oil and soybean oil down 0.1 percent each.
