After the overtime payment dispute between Gucci and its employees was disclosed to the media, the luxury brand asked its staff to give standard answers to the media enquiries and to pay special attention to reporters who disguised as customers paying unannounced visits to Gucci outlets, Beijing Morning Post reported Tuesday.

The newspaper said Gucci asked staff to record conversations between suspected reporters who paid unannounced visits and report it to the company afterwards.

Although Gucci promised that the company was investigating the case and would take appropriate measures to well handle the accusations as soon as possible, the staff said these were only "diplomatic words". They had neither received an apology or any compensation from Gucci yet, the report said.

Gucci was criticized after five former staff at its Shenzhen flagship store released an open letter to the public calling the company a "sweatshop". This was the second the dispute after a former operation manager of Gucci filed for overtime payment and submitted the labor arbitration application to Chaoyang Arbitration Committee for Labor Disputes in Beijing in August.
