China's development greatly benefits Africa

LOME -- China has made prominent achievements in various fields since it launched the reform and opening-up drive 30 years ago, Professor Ahadzi Nonou Koffi, chairman of the board of directors of University of Lome, has said in a recent interview.

China's development has greatly benefited the African countries and their people, Professor Koffi stressed.

During the interview, Koffi highlighted the Sino-Togo cooperation in education, saying relevant cooperation programs not only enabled him to visit China last year, but also enabled a lot of Togolese students to study in China each year with scholarships provided by the Chinese government.

Koffi said he was deeply impressed by the progress China has made, especially some newly-finished major infrastructure projects.

China's has also made remarkable achievements in economy, politics, military and culture over the past 30 years, Koffi said, adding that China's success resulted from reform and opening-up.

Over the impact of China's development over Africa, Koffi said China's development has greatly benefited Africa.

China has increased economic aid to Africa, China has assisted African countries in infrastructure construction and the Chinese products are so cheap and  practical that they are very popular with African people, Koffi elaborated.

Politically, China has offered Africa great support in resolving sub-regional conflicts and in the reform of the UN Security Council, Koffi said.

Africa should draw experience from China to seek a self-reliant and feasible approach in future development, Koffi added.
