Husband forces wife to join oldest profession

A woman in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region was granted a divorce after she refused to heed her husband's wish to become a prostitute.

The woman married Li in 2008. Li, 30, is lazy and never worked before he got married and relied on his parents.

After spending the 20,000 yuan ($2,928) his parents gave him, he asked his wife to make money from prostitution. She refused and he beat her.

He tried to get 10,000 from his wife in order to cooperate with the divorce but she refused. The court agreed with her.
