US Pavilion gets another boost

The Golden Eagle International Group has became the sixth sponsor to offer help to build a United States Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo following GE, 3M, Dell, the US-China Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization and Yum! Brands Inc, the steering committee for the US pavilion, announced on June 1,2009.

H. Roger Wang, the Chairman and CEO of the group who emigrated to US in the 1970s, said the 2010 Expo provides an "unprecendented" opportunity to display the efforts made by China and US in improving the quality of life to create a "Better city, Better Life."

Founded in 1992 with headquarters in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, Golden Eagle is a conglomerate with businesses ranging from real estate to a chain of high-end department stores. It operates several high-end department stores in China.

The US has given an oral confirmation for participation in the 2010 event.

The design of the country's 6,000-square-meter planned Expo pavilion has been completed. The pavilion will present a dynamic and emotional story that radiates powerful core values shared by both the Chinese and American people – sustainability, teamwork, health and the fundamental belief that America is a place of opportunity where those who seek to change the world for the better will always thrive and prosper, according to the Website of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.

Ellen R. Eliasoph, co-chairman of the steering committee, said the committee welcomed the sponsorship and hoped the cooperation would fuel Chinese Americans' support for the construction of the US Pavilion.
