Preparation on Lhasa-Xigaze railway ready

Preliminary preparation for construction of the railway connecting Lhasa and Xigaze has been completed, China National Radio reported today, quoting Pelma Trile, executive vice chairman of Tibet autonomous region as saying.

The Lhasa-Xigaze railway is set to be the extension of the 1,956 km Qinghai-Tibet railway, which was finished on July 1, 2006.

Xigaze, located about 250 km southwest of Lhasa, is the second largest city in Tibet autonomous region, with a population of 80,000.
