1,057 companies listed on Chinese stock markets have released interim reports as of August 22, the Shanghai Securities News reported today.

Their total net profits were 249.51 billion yuan, or an average of 0.19 yuan per share. That is a 10.69 percent year-on-year decrease.

852 of the firms reported in profits in the first half of the year, while the remaining 205 - or 19.39 percent - reported losses.

In the first quarter of this year, 25.29 percent of 1,048 firms releasing reports made a loss.

Currently, there are 867 firms listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and 742 listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
