Eight killed in bus accident in southwest China

CHENGDU: A bus accident killed eight and injured five in southwest China's Sichuan Province Friday, a local official said.

The accident happened at 5:40 pm when a bus with 13 people aboard fell off a 110-meter-high cliff on a highway in Liangshan Prefecture, the official said.

Eight people died at the scene. All the injured have been sent to hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
