This year's meeting will highlight how to increase energy efficiency, lower carbon emissions, develop green technology and rebuild basic infrastructure. It will also provide a systemic overview of economic, industry and technological developments set to reshape business and society for the foreseeable future.

"We are looking at sustainability in a broad way," said Lee Howell, Head of Programme Development at the World Economic Forum. "We will focus a lot on low-carbon growth, but also examine sustainability in terms of business models and economic models, how sustainable is the current stimulus driving demand today, as well as job growth."

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will attend the opening plenary and deliver a speech Monday evening.

Other Chinese leaders taking part in the meeting include Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology, Zhang Ping, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, Zhang Xiaoqiang, Vice-Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission.

The Annual Meeting of the New Champions is the foremost global business gathering in Asia. Introduced in 2007, the meeting is hosted in partnership with the Government of the People's Republic of China represented by the National Development and Reform Commission.
