Palace Museum windows restored after damage

By WANG XIAODONG | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-05-24 18:01

The Palace Museum has restored windows unwittingly damaged by tourists, who were criticized by netizens for “uncivilized behavior”, Beijing Morning Post reported on Friday.

Guards at the museum found windowpanes at the Zhonghe Palace were damaged recently.

An investigation showed the damage was caused by tourists constantly pressing their hands on the wooden frame.

Zhonghe Palace, built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), is one of the three largest palaces in the museum.

Tourists also leaned against wooden structures when posing for photographs.
