BEIJING - Four discipline officials have received punishments ranging from dismissal to criminal prosecution for breaking laws and Party anti-corruption guidelines, the discipline watchdog of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said in a statement Monday.

Wu Qiang, a discipline official with Anyi county in South China's Jiangxi province, was stripped of his CPC membership and expelled from public office for drunk driving and killing a pedestrian on December 17, 2013, according to the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

The pedestrian was left unattended as Wu fled from the scene of the accident and later died in the hospital after failing to respond to medical treatment. Wu's case has already been transferred to judicial organs, according to local discipline authorities.

In another case, one person was killed and another two injured in a car accident caused by Wu Jimian, a discipline official with the national security bureau in Xiangyang city of Central China's Hubei province.

The victims, all staff members of the hotel where Wu attended an official banquet, were hit by a police car driven by Wu on November 21, 2013. Wu escaped from the scene of the accident. He has been prosecuted for his criminal offences, according to the CCDI.

Shen Wanhao, a county discipline official in Handan city of North China's Hebei province, was dismissed from his post for beating another discipline official, Wang Jialu, during an official banquet on May 17, 2013, according to the CCDI.

Ren Jiangang, a discipline official with Hejin city in northern China's Shanxi province, received a Party warning for holding banquets to commemorate his father's death and accepting cash totaling 7,900 yuan ($1,295) from January 24 to 28, 2013.

The CPC leadership issued an eight-point guideline in December 2012, urging CPC officials to resist pomp, ceremony, reduce bureaucratic visits and meetings and improve their work style.
