SINGAPORE - A Taiwan vegetable seller and the mother of media mogul Rupert Murdoch are among the most generous souls in the Asia Pacific, according to a list of philanthropist "heroes" in the region.

The list, compiled by magazine Forbes Asia and in its third year, features 48 of the region's most prominent altruists.

Hollywood action star Jackie Chan, one of Hong Kong's most famous sons, was also on the list, which also included China's international basketball star Yao Ming.
