Rise and decline of Huizhou in pictures

Photographer Zhang Jianping issued his new book Huizhou: Discovering a Culture in Photos on Sept 26 in Beijing. The photographic book tells the story of Huizhou - an ancient city in Anhui province and home to many famous scholars, businessmen and politicians in Chinese history. Over the past 27 years, Zhang has been taking photos of the Hui-style architecture and people living in these ancient villages. The book features about 300 photos and photographic documents Zhang collected to tell the story of the city's past and present, as well as the rise and decline of the city known for its Hui-style architects. The book is written in English and Chinese.
