More access to cultural relics

By LI XIANG | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2017-03-03 16:59

China will adopt new policies to provide the public greater access to the country's cultural relics, Liu Yuzhu, head of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, said on Friday.

Liu, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said that "bringing relics alive" is a key task of the administration under the country's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).

He made the comments before the opening of the annual meeting of the National Committee of the CPPCC, the country's top political advisory body on Friday.

Liu said the administration will boost the quality of museums and exhibitions while promoting an active market of relics by taking advantage of the online platform.

In addition, the government will seek to encourage and regulate private collections of relics and open the field to the private sector, Liu said.
