Guard fills 'empty' life with false reports

A 23-year-old newly married man surnamed Li was put in a detention house for 10 days after he reported fake incidents to police in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.

Li, a security guard at a restaurant, was detained by police after he dialed the police hotline and claimed he was wounded in a knife fight.

More than 10 police officers and an ambulance turned up. He apparently also reported a false case a week earlier.

Li, 23, of Hunan province, said he reported the false incidents for fun as he felt empty and wasn't aware it was illegal.
