South Korea's Foreign Ministry has confirmed that six-way North Korea nuclear talks have been set for August 27 to 29 in Beijing - dates it said would be formally announced by China later on Thursday.

The Foreign Ministry, which is hosting a visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, issued a statement confirming the dates of talks bringing together the two Koreas, the United States, Russia, China and Japan.

"Our government will make positive efforts in the hope that the North Korean nuclear issue will be resolved peacefully through the six-party talks," said the statement.
