China's industrial production keeps growing in September

China reported an industrial added value of 370.4 billion yuan (44.7 billion
US dollars) in September, 16.3 percent higher than the same period last year,
according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
China's industrial added value for the nine months to September rose 16.5
percent on an annual basis to nearly 2.9 trillion yuan ( 350.7 billion US
dollars), the NBS monthly report showed.
Communication equipment, computer and other electronic device production,
transport production, metallurgy, electrical machine production, and the
chemical industry all had growth rates above 20 percent in September and
continued as the country's major driving forces in industrial production.
Steel output rose 26.1 percent in September, compared with the same period
last year, and computer output increased by 140 percent. The automobile industry
hit a record high in September, rising by 36.8 percent to reach 427,600 units,
of which 190,000 were sedans.
State-owned enterprises, joint-stock companies and foreign- invested
companies all saw growth rates slowing down in September, while collectives
reported faster increases.
The added value realized by state-owned and state-holding enterprises rose
11.6 percent in September, short of August's 14 percent rise. Joint-stock
companies' added value rose 16.5 percent, down from 17.9 percent in August.
Foreign-invested companies reported an added value growth rate down from 20.7
percent in August to 19.4 percent.
Exports of industrial products maintained a rapid growth, rising by 26.1
percent over last year.
