Abstract: This paper gives a calculation of the physical quantity of forestry carbon sequestration in Mengyin County and an estimation of the value based on the data collected. The calculation of the physical quantity of carbon sequestration adopted the variable biomass expansion factor function (variable BEFF) method to estimate the biomass of chief species in shelter forests and commercial forests, and then calculated the carbon sequestration volume according to the data of each species. In addition, this paper also makes an estimation of the carbon sequestration quantity of major fruit trees in Mengyin County based on the carbon density of fruit trees recorded in the current document. After fully analyzing the historical data of Mengyin County’s forests, the paper makes a prediction about the changing trend of forestry carbon sequestration. Based on the domestic and international market price and theoretical price of carbon sequestration, this paper gives a further estimation of the changing range of carbon sequestration value in Mengyin County and its future performance trend.
