Abstract: Situated across a strait, Fujian and Taiwan have intertwined family lineages and shared cultural sentiment, giving Fujian the geographic advantage for making communication with Taiwan. If a normalized mechanism for cross-strait cultural communication is established by fully tapping into the unique historical and cultural resources of both places, Taiwan compatriots will be inspired to regain their identification with Chinese culture and the Chinese nation. Fujian’s abundant resources in family lineage, religion, language, custom and history links with Taiwan have formed an important basis for cross-strait cultural communication. It is found in the research that these cultural forms have already played an important role and achieved remarkable results in deepening cultural exchanges, passing down shared generational legacy and clarifying identities between the two sides. It is therefore suggested that the government give greater support to the basic research on Fujian-Taiwan culture, and strengthen the platform and mechanism for their cultural communication. With increased guidance and support, the Fujian-Taiwan cultural studies and exchanges will be deepened and built on a more solid basis, drawing the peoples across the strait closer to each other and rallying them to the cause of China’s national reunification.
