Foreign ministers of China, Japan and South Korea had an informal
meeting Tuesday on the sideline of the ASEAN meetings.
They are here to attend the ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, ASEAN
Regional Forum and other bilateral and multilateral sessions.
According to diplomatic sources here, the foreign ministers reviewed the
positive developments of China-Japan-South Korea bilateral and trilateral
relations.
They decided to recommend their leaders to issue a joint declaration at the
ASEAN summit in October in Bali, Indonesia, so as to promote cooperation in the
areas of trade, politics, environmental protection, human resources development,
and culture.
The document would also be focused on promoting tripartite cooperation and
their joint efforts to support the ASEAN integration.
On the DPRK unclear issue, the three foreign ministers agreed that the issue
should be peacefully resolved through dialogue. The Japanese and South Korean
sides appreciated China's hosting of the first Beijing talks on the matter,
hoping that the process would be continued, sources said.
