Stylish suits, three-week vacations, and your own sunny office in downtown Beijing - doesn't that sound like the future you'd like to have?

Well, that future is possible at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), one of the world's most prestigious accountancy and consultancy firms, with a network of 125,000 employees in 142 countries.

In addition to a handsome salary, PwC offers an environment that encourages employees to achieve their personal and professional goals. "It's a place where knowledge-sharing and communication are highly valued," says Angela Jiang, PwC's human resources manager in Beijing.

Want to be a part of this environment? Well, you could be soon, as the firm has just begun a new round of graduate recruitment - as it does every October.

The selection process consists of five parts: an online application form, an English test, an interview with a manager, a day at an assessment centre, and an interview with a partner at the firm.

The assessment centre is the crucial part of the process, and is full of novel tasks to see whether you're PwC material, says Jiang. The day centres around a group activity, such as a discussion of a murder, in which each test taker is required to act out a specific role. Applicants should try to contribute ideas to the group - logically, co-operatively and persuasively.

None of the activities is fixed, and everyone has to speak English.

Meanwhile, each candidate's performance is closely observed by recruiters. "That unique test helps us discover the potential of each student," says Jiang.

Last year, PwC Beijing recruited 160 people out of about 2,000 applicants. All the recruits are said to have excellent leadership potential, and communication and interpersonal skills.

To be one of the next group, English skills are essential. A CET-6 certificate is preferred, according to Jiang. "Their major doesn't matter too much. But we do have several target universities - usually famous ones in big cities," she says.

Prior to the application process, PwC pays a visit to those universities. And, recruiters will give lectures on employment and career planning skills.

Jiang says, though, what is most important for recruits is to know that they definitely want to work for PwC: "You have to know your interests and limits. It's necessary to put your first job choice in a broader career perspective. Think twice before applying. Make sure PwC is really where you want to work."
