CAAC, Airbus sign MOU on flight safety
( 2003-11-24 21:14) (Xinhua)

Airbus China signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) here Monday with the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) to provide a comprehensive and thorough training for professionals from the aviation regulatory body and various airlines in the country.

The training is intended to empower the aviation professionals with expertise in flight safety, thus guranteeing the safe and smooth operation of Airbus aircraft in China, according to the leading airplane manufacturer.

CAAC Deputy Director-General Liu Shaoyong and Airbus China Vice President of Customer Service Jean-Hugues Depigny signed the MOU.

"Airbus has worked closely with us in flight safety in recent years," CAAC Director General Yang Yuanyuan said. "The training program will be of great significance to flight safety in China."

Airbus Senior President of Product Safety Bernard Catteeuw affirmed Airbus' commitment to the development of China's aviation industry for the long term.

"In China, we are not only selling aircraft, but also providing quality customer service in training and support on a daily basis, " said Catteeuw. "We are devoting efforts to forging a strategic partnership with Chinese aviation authorities and customers. Customer satisfaction is our goal and safety is our top priority. This training program for China is part of Airbus' global strategies."

Under the MOU, Airbus will conduct three major programs in training centers and set up an "airline safety performance model" for CAAC. It has worked closely with CAAC and other partners on a number of safety initiatives, holding safety meetings and yearly safety committee conferences.
