Mark Quayle made Scarborough half-a-million pounds richer on Wednesday night with a last-gasp strike to set the Conference minnows up with a dream FA Cup clash against Chelsea.

Quayle pounced seven minutes from time to prod home a Jimmy Kelly cross and send the non-league side into delirium.

The Seadogs - who had already taken the league scalps of Doncaster and Port Vale to get this far - seized their big chance and piled on the agony for Third Division strugglers Southend in Wednesday night's third-round replay.

The Shrimpers were denied by a sensational second-half save from Boro goalkeeper Leigh Walker who also blocked Jay Smith's injury-time free-kick as the pressure reached breaking point.

The Conference side were excellent value for their win after creating some fine counter-attacking chances in the second half.

Adrian Mutu, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Eidur Gudjohnsen responded defiantly to Chelsea's search for a new striker by firing the Blues into the FA Cup fourth round with a replay win against Watford.

Mutu put Chelsea ahead after just seven minutes, while Hasselbaink also struck his 13th goal of the season as Roman Abramovich was linked with fresh interest in Louis Saha, Christian Vieri and David Trezeguet.

Mutu then completed the victory with his second goal, while substitute Eidur Gudjohnsen ensured he was not left out as he completed the routine victory with a late strike.

Elsewhere last-gasp goals from Nicolas Anelka and Jon Macken gave Manchester City their first win in 15 matches against Leicester City.

Their FA Cup third round replay with Leicester at the Walkers Stadium looked to be heading for extra-time until Anelka pounced on fatal hesitation between Frank Sinclair and Ian Walker in the final minute of normal time.

On his first domestic start, Macken rounded off a deserved win with an injury-time tap-in to secure a last 32 meeting with Tottenham - and a repeat of the 1981 final - in January 25.
