A delegation from Guangzhou city, capital of Guangdong province in southern China, has made a formal bid to host the 2010 Asian Games.

The group handed over an application report to the Olympic Committee of Asia, or OCA in Kuwait.

Xu Deli, head of the delegation, also vice governer of Guangdong province, reported on preparations and said he was confident the city could host the best Asian Games.

According to OCA rules, city reports to bid for the 2010 Games must be handed in before the end of March.

Besides Guangzhou, only Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, has submitted an application.
