The Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOC) held a hearing in Beijing Friday on the domestic industrial damage caused by the alleged dumping of chloroform, a solvent used in refrigerants, made in the European Union, the Republic of Korea (ROK), the United States and India.

About 80 delegates from all concerned sides, companies and law offices attended the hearing.

The Ministry of Commerce formally triggered the anti-dumping investigation in May 30, 2003 and announced the preliminary verdict on the case in April 8 this year.

According to the preliminary verdict, Chinese customs will collect cash deposit from importers of such products as a temporary anti-dumping measure.

The final verdict will come out five months after the hearing, an MOC official said.
