Federer marches through
(China Daily)

Roger Federer continued his march through the Wimbledon field yesterday, sweeping aside the challenge of Swede Thomas Johansson to reach the fourth round.

The Swiss defending champion and top seed bounced Johansson 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in their second match on grass in three weeks. Federer also beat him in Halle and has now won all six matches against the 29-year-old.

"I got a lot of first serves in... I felt very comfortable and started to play really well," Federer said.

"It was a great atmosphere - I think people were just so pleased to see some tennis," he said.

Organizers decided on Saturday to play on the middle yesterday for only the third time in the history of the tournament after losing two complete days due to rain.

The second-seeded Andy Roddick charged into the fourth round at Wimbledon after blasting away fellow American Taylor Dent 6-3, 7-6, 7-6.

In a battle between two of the biggest servers in the game, Roddick fired 16 aces to just six from Dent.

Eighth seed Rainer Schuettler of Germany shuffled out, a 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 victim of American 30th seed Vincent Spadea.

Wayne Ferreira, playing in a record 55th straight grand slam tournament, also lost 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-4 to Schuettler's fellow German Florian Mayer.

In the women's draw, Jennifer Capriati flexed her grasscourt muscles to send France's Nathalie Dechy packing from the third round with a solid 7-5, 6-1 win.
