A third gold medal for Chui Yee Yu rounded off a rewarding day for Hong Kong at the Paralympics as they emerged as the dominant force in wheelchair fencing.

The 20-year-old student, who began her sporting career as a swimmer, added the individual women's foil category A to the individual and team epee golds she won on the opening two days as she beat compatriot Pui Shan Fan in Monday's final.

"I am really happy because this is the third medal that I have won in this Paralympic Games," said Yu.

"I felt really confident and, no matter who won, the important thing is that the gold medal went to Hong Kong."

Hong Kong also won the men's individual foil category A thanks to Ying Ki Fung while Charn Hung Hui took gold in category B. They combined to help Hong Kong secure silver in the team foil after they lost in the final to China.

Yui Chon Chang won silver in the women's epee category B and joined Yu as Hong Kong beat Hungary for gold in the team epee.

Wai Ip Kwong rounded off Hong Kong's medal winners with a bronze in the men's individual epee category A.

Hungary's Judit Palfi, a loser in the women's team epee final, paid tribute to the quality of the Hong Kong fencers.

"They are fencing very fast and in a frenetic way. Besides they are training on a professional basis every day while we practise our sports as amateurs."
