Jason Richardson scored 25 points, and the Golden State Warriors held the Los Angeles Lakers scoreless over the final 4:28 of overtime to hang on for a 90-88 preseason victory Thursday night.

Richardson made a pair of free throws with 1:15 left in overtime to put the Warriors ahead for good.

Kobe Bryant had 35 points for the Lakers, but missed an easy layup and two 3-point shots in the extra five-minute period. Reserve Brian Cook scored 14 points for Los Angeles.

The Lakers, back at Staples Center for the first time since losing to Detroit in the finals, scored 14 consecutive points and held Golden State scoreless during a 5:22 span to take a 80-77 lead with 3 1/2 minutes left in regulation.

Center Chris Mihm dunked a rebound of Sasha Vujacic's jumper with 4:19 left to put the Lakers ahead for the first time since the opening minute and Cook capped the rally with a layup 48 seconds later.

Speedy Claxton put the Warriors ahead 86-83 with a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws with 50 seconds left, but Cook made a 3-pointer with 37 seconds to go to tie it. Claxton lost the ball out of bounds at the other end with 18.1 seconds left, but the Lakers couldn't get off a good shot before the buzzer.

Bryant picked up two fouls in the game's first four minutes while the Warriors opened with an 18-8 run. He scored his first 11 points in the second quarter, nine of them during a 16-5 run that pulled Los Angeles to 38-all with 4:45 left in the half.

The Warriors opened up a 50-43 halftime lead after Richardson made a layup, two free throws and a slam dunk in the final 2:32 of the second quarter.

Warriors guard Derek Fisher, who spent his first eight NBA seasons with the Lakers and won three championship rings with them, got a standing ovation from the crowd of 15,237 during pregame introductions. His made his first shot, a 3-pointer from the left corner, less than two minutes in and finished with seven points in 26 minutes.

The Lakers played without Vlade Divac (herniated disk in his back), Slava Medvedenko (sore right heel), Kareem Rush (sprained right foot), Luke Walton (sprained left ankle) and Devean George, who is recovering from surgery on his left ankle.
