Favorable policies to Taiwan reporters

A senior Chinese official says the Chinese mainland will provide more favourable policies for visits of Taiwan reporters who hope to conduct reporting on the mainland.

Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Yunlin, has clarified central government's attitude after the Taiwan authorities banned journalists from the mainland-based Xinhua New Agency and People's Daily from reporting in the province.

Taiwan authorities accused the two mainland media organizations of contributing to the worsening of cross-Straits relations.

Chen Yunlin says the Chinese mainland welcomes the Taiwan media to visit provided that Taiwan reporters will cover events in an objective way.

Since 1988, the Chinese mainland has recorded over ten thousand visits from Taiwan reporters.
