"It is the most important leg that will clinch the point in our trip," said Yok.

The delegation was greeted at the Beijing Capital International Airport by Chen Yunlin, director of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Li Bingcai, the office's deputy director and Sun Zhengcai, standing committee member and secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal Committee ofthe CPC.

The delegation will stay in Beijing for three days and leave here for Taipei on July 13.

During their stay in Beijing, talks, discussions and lectures will be held on how to improve the cross-Straits relations, promote exchanges between the two sides and protect interests of compatriots from both sides.

The delegation will also visit some historical sites, including the Lugou Bridge and the Memorial Hall of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

The delegation arrived at Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, on July 6 to begin the four-city mainland trip with the theme of commemorating the 60th anniversary of China's victory over the war against Japanese aggression during the World War II.

It paid homage to the Huanghuagang 72 Martyrs' Cemetery in Guangzhou, visited the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province and offered condolences to victims of the Nanjing Massacre at the Memorial Hall of Compatriots Murdered in Nanjing.

During their stay in Dalian, a port city in northeast China's Liaoning Province, Yok and his entourage visited some historical sites including the Museum of Lushun Japanese and Russian Prison and Wanzhong Cemetery, a site in commemoration of the Chinese people's resistance against Japanese invasion. Yok also met with business people from Taiwan at a forum.
