Manchester goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, a recent arrival, was never seriously challenged by Beijing Hyundai's offense.

Beijing Hyundai player Zhang Shuai picked up a yellow card for a shoving match with Manchester United star striker Ruud Van Nistlerooy in the 70th minute.

"I think it was a competitive game and when a game is competitive it can have a more physical component," Ferguson said. "I don't think it went out of control. But it was very competitive."

Asked about Park, who was playing his fourth match for Manchester United, Ferguson said: "I think he's a goal scorer, I do."

"His speed and his penetration in the last third of the field is very good," the coach said.

Dong Fangzhuo, formerly of Beijing Hyundai rival Dalian Shide, came on the 71st minute.

"It wasn't a lot of time, but we saw some nice things about him," Ferguson said. "He's a good athlete. He's quick. We saw one or two nice things from him tonight."

Asked about reports that the team was entertaining offers to buy reserve midfielder Phil Neville, Ferguson said, "We have had a few inquiries for Phil Neville in the last two or three weeks, but we have not accepted any."

Neville played the last half-hour of Tuesday's match, substituting for his brother Gary, also a midfielder.

Manchester United is one of the most popular foreign soccer teams in China.

The next stop on its tour is Japan, where the team plays the Kashima Antlers and the Urawa Red Diamonds.
